Dadu District

Dadu District was formed in April 1931 by bifurcating it from Larkana and Karachi District. It is situated on Right Bank of River Indus. The District takes its name from Headquater town. The District was amalgamated in seven talukas & two Sub- Divistion as under

Pre-Independence History & Post Independence History

 The first Collector of District Dadu was Rai Bahadur Jagat Singh. The Collectorate Building was constructed in 1931. The Local Board wa made functional from 18th April 1933 & First President was Khan Bahadur Muhammad Parial Khan Kalhoro.

Historical significance of Dadu and its adjoining areas (i.e Sehwan, Johi and Mehar etc) has been chiefly for two After Independence, the people belonging to Hindu community migrated to India & their properties were given to Muslims mostly who had come from India but after some time most of them sold out the same properties given to them in satisfaction of their claims. Infect Dadu District developed after Independence. The Headquarter as well as the name of Taluka Kakar was replaced by K.N.Shah after independence. The Indus Highway was also constructed after Independence. From 1991 until 14th December 2004, Dadu remained the largest District of Sindh province where after it was again bifurcated and a new District Jamshoro was created on 13.12.2004.  Administrative units

                                Prior to Devolution the Head of District was Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate. After devolution District Coordination Officer has been made Head of Group of Officers of various Government Department forming District Government, the District Nazim is Head of the District. The Jurisdiction of Taluka & Taluka Nazim is the Head of each taluka Municipal Administration. Each Union Councile is Similarity headed by Nazim of Union Council.
